Sony Prepares the Development of PS4; Not Investing As Much As PS3

Sony finally seems to be getting back on its feet; The PlayStation Network is very near to return to normal as the service is revived in Asia this weekend. But now Sony has also begun giving singals about its upcoming PlayStation 4 in the labs. This is not a unique move; in fact it was a much needed move as Sony’s rivals in the market, like Nintendo, are constantly reported to be building Wii 2 and even a new Xbox version. It was reported by Eurogamer, that V.P. and C.F.O. of Sony Corp., Masaru Kato, has to justify the increment he made in the budget for research and development, which will be for PlayStation 4. Kato spoke in a company’s conference call, stating that “For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform – when we’ll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that – but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there.”

It is already pretty clear that, just like Microsoft, Sony had the policy to invest as much as possible and do maximum business from its current gaming consoles. It was even previously heard that there might not be anything new coming in the market for the next few years, since the company no rather has the capacity to spend more time on development and creating a magnificently advanced technology for the next consoles. However, Industry Gamers have reported that Masaru Kato asserts that this development leap might be shortened and the next version of the gaming system may not be having anything new or big.

Sony’s “Welcome Back” Package Offers Users Many Free Games, Movies and More

After a month long wait, the highly criticized Sony's PlayStation Network has returned most of its features back online. Since the gamers were not able to interact online in internet gaming for a month, almost every user is equally anxious to log in their accounts, change their passwords, and resume the well deserved online gaming they have been patiently waiting for. In addition to that, the "Welcome Back" package of Sony also adds to the attraction; it was announced to compensate and make up for the downtime to all its users.

The “Welcome Back” package has awarded the effected users several offers for free games, movies and more. The PlayStation 3 users have been offered to choose any of the two free games it has put online, out of the list of five games in the “Welcome Package.” These five games are noted to be: Dead Nation, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Super Stardust HD and Wipeout HD. While for the PSP users, it has offered a list of four games, which have been put online for free, to select any two games and return to gaming. The list of four PSP games in the “Welcome Package” includes Little Big Planet PSP, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force and Killzone Liberation.

Sony Unleashes Its Plan to Launch Two Android Tablets till the End of This Year

After the long expectations of the analysts all over the industry, Sony has finally made the announcement of its grand entry in the ever-growing market of tablet PC. It has declared that it will launch its two initial products till the end of this year which will be based on the most advanced version of Google's Android operating system. These tablets are codenamed S1 and S2 by the Japan-based company until they are completely developed or have an official name. This announcement took place on Tuesday, when it was also officially disclosed that these products will be launched worldwide this fall.

Any further elaboration regarding the actual price range or any precise launch dates was not disclosed yet. However, it some of the most basic specifications and features were displayed along with a raw demonstration prototypes of these two products, at the news conference in Tokyo.

It was publicized that S1 will be a slate-type designed model which will have a 9.4-inch wide screen. Announcement stated that from far it will definitely look like many other rival products in the market; however, he continued that looking more precisely the distinguishing features will be observed. He added that the shape will be like a wedge, which implies that the upper section of the tablet will be relatively thicker than the lower-end which will make it easier to hold in hand.

It has been the fourth day today, that the both the services of Sony's PlayStation Network and Qriocity service remain non-operational. The users have all their hands on as they continue to wait even after the company’s official announcement of Sunday, stating that Sony is "rebuilding" its entire system, which will be better guarded against such attacks.

Previously on Saturday the company had announced that this non-functioning of the services is due to the "external intrusion" into its network. However, any understandably explanation of the problem was not disclosed, as the cause remains ambiguous.

Sony has reported the dismayed news of passing away of Norio Ohga, who was not only the current Chariman of the company but also a previous President for more than a decade. He was a true legend for the company as he did not pursue career as an opera singer, and rather decided to give full dedication and made his name in the consumer electronics industry. He began his career way back in 1950s, when the industry was just new-born, and then maneuvered its way into movies and video games. The 81-years-old legend passed away on this Saturday according to the company officials.

Ohga was designated as the honorable president of Sony in 1982, as his regime sprawled till 1995. It has in his services that Sony made few of the most profitable and well-time acquisition and became this giant company, the first purchase was of Columbia Pictures back in 1989 for $3.4 billion.
