Sony Unleashes Its Plan to Launch Two Android Tablets till the End of This Year


After the long expectations of the analysts all over the industry, Sony has finally made the announcement of its grand entry in the ever-growing market of tablet PC. It has declared that it will launch its two initial products till the end of this year which will be based on the most advanced version of Google's Android operating system. These tablets are codenamed S1 and S2 by the Japan-based company until they are completely developed or have an official name. This announcement took place on Tuesday, when it was also officially disclosed that these products will be launched worldwide this fall.
Any further elaboration regarding the actual price range or any precise launch dates was not disclosed yet. However, it some of the most basic specifications and features were displayed along with a raw demonstration prototypes of these two products, at the news conference in Tokyo.

It was publicized that S1 will be a slate-type designed model which will have a 9.4-inch wide screen. Announcement stated that from far it will definitely look like many other rival products in the market; however, he continued that looking more precisely the distinguishing features will be observed. He added that the shape will be like a wedge, which implies that the upper section of the tablet will be relatively thicker than the lower-end which will make it easier to hold in hand.

Whereas, on the other hand, the second device codenamed S2, will be a folding device displaying two screens each of 5.5-inch wide. It will be somewhat circular in shape and will be made as small as to be able to keep inside the pocket of any jacket. Just after disclosing that, the D.P. of Sony's consumer products group tablet, Kunimasa Suzuki himself took the prototype of the tablet out his own jacket’s pocket.
It was also declared that each device will run on the most advance Android 3.0, a.k.a."Honeycomb" version. Hence, each will have the ability to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots and cellular networks both. Sony will also be establishing support for its own Qriocity online audio and video service, which will allow users to be able to select and buy electronic books from Sony’s store.
S1 will also contain an infrared transmitter allowing it to control most handy gadgets, like T.V. or Blu-ray Disc player. Moreover the support for DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) means that user will have facility to send or receive any audio and video content over a Wi-Fi network with other devices. Whereas, identifiably the two linked screens of S2 will make it a multi-functioning gaming console as well. The upper screen can display the game along with the on-screen controls on the lower screen’s display. The S2 will also be PlayStation Certified, which is a new agenda of Sony Computer Entertainment, which will expand the company’s franchise of PlayStation gaming platform to its newer devices.
