How Close is Google's 'Autonomous Driver-less Car' From Reality

Perhaps Google is one of many high-status companies investing large lumps of money on the idea of ‘autonomous driverless cars’ which can drive themselves. If you look up Google, several other major automakers and U.S. government agencies like DARPA and the U.S. Army have been effectively running related research projects. But it is Google who has brought some reality to the idea and is now putting  all-hands-on-deck on its project.

This Tuesday, September 25, 2012, California became the third state of the U.S., following Nevada and Florida, to sign a legislation which legally gives permission to Google for testing it driverless cars on the state's roads. Nevada has already granted an official permission in June 2011, whereas Florida did so in April, 2012. Similar legislations are soon expected to be drawn up in Hawaii and Oklahoma as well.

Before all this in March 2011, the Google engineer who led the research which brought this advancement to light today, Sebastian Thrun, gave an aspiring highlight of his project in a TED presentation which is worth watching. He mentioned his primary purpose was to save the lives of those millions of people from all over the world who have faded due to numerous traffic accidents, also the case of his friends when he was 18.

A British Council Successfully Forces Twitter to Hand over User Data after A Court Battle in California

A local authority in Britain had demanded Twitter to provide them with some users' details as it made the request to the the US microblogging site in the court of California. This step was taken for the first time ever, in a case from Britain. South Tyneside Council of northeast England has taken all necessary steps required to lodge an official application in the legal boundaries to investigate and acquire the identity of an anonymous blogger, entitled with the cyber name "My Monkey", who has apparently passed slanderous statements against the councilors.

The spokesperson, Paul Robinson, declared on behalf of the council that "Twitter has released information to our lawyers and this is currently being analyzed by technical experts." The information required was delivered to the council after it had dragged Twitter in to a court in California, the hometown of the service.

Analysts are suspecting that this ruling could be the result of footballer Ryan Giggs’s case, whose lawyers had previously insisted in front of the British courts that Twitter should disclose the identity of the user which has allegedly defied the court orders.

DirecTV Increases Its Revenue Up To 21% by the Help of New Subscribers

The California based DirecTV Group Inc., which also the nation's largest satellite TV operator, announced on this Thursday that its profit has raised even more by 21% in their initial quarter of this year. With its continued success, the company has far passed its rivals, like Dish Network, and now almost leads the market. DirecTV also boasted in their announcement that it also added an extreme amount of 611,000 subscribers in this quarters’ period of January to March. This is its second-best record, as we go even back till the decade old history, best record being the previous fourth quarter of last year, with a total of 667,000 new subscriptions.
