DirecTV Increases Its Revenue Up To 21% by the Help of New Subscribers

The California based DirecTV Group Inc., which also the nation's largest satellite TV operator, announced on this Thursday that its profit has raised even more by 21% in their initial quarter of this year. With its continued success, the company has far passed its rivals, like Dish Network, and now almost leads the market. DirecTV also boasted in their announcement that it also added an extreme amount of 611,000 subscribers in this quarters’ period of January to March. This is its second-best record, as we go even back till the decade old history, best record being the previous fourth quarter of last year, with a total of 667,000 new subscriptions.
Owing to the trend in last couple year’s record, DirecTV has been constantly winning over most of its new subscribers from the region of Latin American. Despite that number, it has still managed to do well in its care area that is U.S. with 184,000 subscribers. This is also an increased number, as last year’s subscriptions from the U.S. were only 100,000. DirecTV also showed off that it has achieved its new all-time high value of its share, i.e. $49.64, on Thursday as they were in the middle of a conference call among the officials with the investors and analysts.
According to the C.E.O. of the company, Mike White, as he was on a phone call, he admitted that he himself has observed the increase in competition of offers in the U.S., therefore it is also effecting adversely as plenty subscribers leave the network too. He addressed to his audience and brought their attention to this topic, as he believes that this issue puts the entire year’s forecast company of the company on complete risk.
In Latin America, due to the extra-ordinary good performance of the company, in its first quarter, the shares of the company are bond to increase consequently mounting its revenue forecast for the full year too. It is projected that this increase in revenue would lie somewhere between twenty to thirty percent.
DirecTV has finished this quarter with the total number of subscriptions to be around 19.4 million for within the U.S. only, which makes it the second-largest provider of pay-TV in the whole nation, putting Comcast Corp as the first. DirecTV has also announced that the company’s net income has also got a jump to $674 million, i.e. 85 cents per share, up from the last year’s $558 million, i.e. 59 cents per share. Overall the increase of Revenue was a huge 13% which accounts from around $6.32 billion from $5.61 billion, mounted by the aid of new subscriptions along with the revision of monthly fees.
