Google Makes another Acquisition of Widevine – an Anti-Piracy Software Firm

Google Inc has now, yet again acquired another software firm, this time called Widevine, which is an anti-piracy firm operated in Seattle. It was announced on Google’s own official blog, stating that it has made the acquisition to enhance its online video services. It was not a surprised that No financial terms were disclosed. However, according to a report by Seattle Times this Friday, Widevine has heaved beyond even $65 million from various interesting investors such as Cisco Systems.

Seattle Times also added that the digital rights management of Widevine’s software which has almost 250 million viewers connected though different Web-connected TVs as well as other some other Web-connected devices too. They defend video content from not permitted unauthorized use.
It was quoted in Google’s official blog by, Mario Queiroz, the Vice President of Google Inc. that "We're excited to welcome the Widevine team to Google, and together we'll work to improve access to great video content across the web."
