An executive of famous Britain-based chip maker, ARM Holdings Plc, which itself licenses many chips to other makers, stated on Monday that it is going to take all the plans of Intel Corp. to start making chips for rivals "very seriously." Intel declared just last week that it is considering to start making chips for its rivals, as it interprets this decision to be helpful in making the chipmaker gain better access in the mobile device kingdom. This will in turn be a major threat for ARM, as it is currently leading the chip making market of tablets and smartphones.

Unparalleled success of Apple Inc., and its products, is one of the major reasons behind the plans of Intel Corp's new processors, revealed Tom Kilroy, the senior VP of Intel Corp. He was at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in New York on Wednesday when he stated that the record breaking sales of iPad and other Apple products has lead to give Intel the opportunity to design better processer for future devices. Kilroy said "We work very closely with them and we're constantly looking down the road at what we can be doing relative to future products. I'd go as far as to say Apple helps shape our roadmap." He also confessed that large sales put pressure on the company; he said "Apple -- they push us hard."

It has been announced by the C.E.O. of Intel, Paul Otellini, that the company’s long-awaited chips, which were going to debut the company in mobile world, will be facing another delay. He referred to the company’s efforts and the road of making these new chips for smartphones; a transition like “a marathon, not a sprint.” Otellini declared that the chips will be delayed for the second time. It was announced by Hewlett-Packard, this Monday that it is going to offer pay-as-you-go 3G mobile broadband services with its latest upcoming business laptops. HP has been considering many offers and service to attach with their PCs, and make it more like a package deal. The broadband service will be of DataPass, and be sold as a package with its new 3G-enabled Elitebook business laptops, which were also announced on the same time. It was added that the service will give access to 3G data networks anywhere in the U.S., and the user will not even have to even sign any kind of, monthly or yearly, contract with a wireless carrier directly. The DataPass service will be automatically purchased along with the laptop, as the user will not be required to even pay a penny, not even for any activation fee, declared the HP spokesman, Mike Hockey. He said that this service will come in handy for a quick access to the Internet, especially in places where it is relatively expensive otherwise, like airports or hotels. Additionally, he said, the users can separately buy a US$5 data plan accounting for 75MB of data over 5 hours, or the $10 package with 150MB of data over 3 days. Furthermore the US$20 package offers 450MB of data over 14 days, and the maximum $30 package allows 1GB of data over 30 days.
The latest rumors are claiming that when the time comes, Apple will be getting rid of the Intel-made processors and upgrade its CPUs with the latest ARM completely. The report was traced back to SemiAccurate, which suspected that “Apple is moving the laptop line, and presumably desktops too, to ARM based chips as soon as possible.” Moreover, it was also informed alongside the rumors, that this step is still years away from today.
