Seagate Announces Its New 500 GB Wireless Hard Drive, with the Ability to Streams Multiple iOS Devices Simultaneously

Seagate just announced that it will soon be releasing its new external hard drive with wireless capacity, allowing the users to access and stream movies and music from and to their iPad. Considering the limitation of iPad’s size and its unsuitability to have a wired external hard drive, this might be a very useful device. As stated, the Seagate's new GoFlex Satellite Mobile Wireless Storage will be powered by rechargeable batteries with an overall capacity of approximately 500GB storage. The WiFi feature will be in 802.11b/g/n capabilities along with WPA security. Moreover, this new Wireless Hard Drive also allows the users to directly stream their video and audio content previously saved to the device to multiple devices simultaneously, supporting at least three devices at ease.

This new GoFlex Satellite Hard Drive will be released sometime in July and retailed for a worthy $200 retail price at Best Buy, though the preorder of the device has already begun as the orders can be placed at Amazon, Best Buy, and Seagate.
The official iOS app of GoFlex Media allows users complete access, to copy, rename, organize and use their files from not only iPad but iPhone, iPod Touch and all iOS devices. The app automatically sorts your 500GB of data, into separate folders reserved for photos, music, video, and documents. While on the other hand, in case you don’t like the iOS app, the user can easily browse the Hard Disk data using their Web browser too. This method will also work if the user who do not have an iOS device, for example other devices using Android tablet or Windows Phone 7.

Seagate has declared that if fully-charged, the Hard Disk can function easily for 5 hours even if the data is being constantly streamed from GoFlex Satellite, whereas otherwise on the standby mode, the device has the capacity to work for 25 hours. Furthermore, making it more viable, the device does not only have a wall charger but a car charger in the package as well. While Seagate's GoFlex Satellite can work smoothly work almost on all operating systems, including Windows 7, Vista, XP, and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. The data will be transferable quickly with the support of USB 3.0 or 2.0 connections to your PC.
The GoFlex Satellite seems to be a very innovative idea, considering its portability and feature of wireless data transfer. It can be even more useful for the consumers who have bought 16GB iPad and now looking for an upgrade of space in the device.
