HBO Declares to Soon Release Its HBO Go App for iOS and Other Mobiles


All those subscribers who have not yet suspended their HBO subscription will soon be up for a treat. HBO has announced it’s to be soon giving all the access to its channel’s entire range of tremendous TV series through plenty cell phone devices. Yes, HBO has announced its new HBO Go app for iOS devices like iPad, iPhone with expected release for other smartphones as well. A short declaration of this announcement regarding HBO’s mobile app was published through a video of YouTube.

Moreover the video claims that HBO Go app will be giving “instant and unlimited access to the best that HBO has to offer.” Furthermore, emphasize is made on the facility of giving the users a chance to “get every episode of every season of your favorite HBO shows, plus hit movies and much more.”

This new service is declared to be a freeware for all HBO subscribers, and is currently announced to be accessible soon for all Apple iOS devices. It is also added that similar versions of the same app is being worked on to be available for other mobile operating systems. However, it is not been opened whether which of these mobile operating systems is HBO working on, but it will not be unrealistic, to assume android will be among the first ones.
It is also still ambiguous that which kind of network connection will be required for the smooth running of the app, it is not disclosed that specific requirements of 3G, 4G, or even Wi-Fi connection are needed. Nevertheless, the video still asserts that the access will be obtainable “wherever you are,” which implies that no mobile broadband network will be prioritized over any other.
The streaming of the shows through HBO Go app was offered to several customers from February 2010, along with the release of the app with Verizon FiOS. Later the service was added to take in the customers with AT&T U-Verse and DirectTV. However, it yet to the amazement of many people that this HBO Go app is not being available for the subscribers of Time Warner Cable, considering the fact that Time Warner is the owner of the HBO Channel.
This new feature of HBO Go has now put a great competition of HBO directly with its rivals Netflix, which has done the same procedure of streaming of movies and TV shows recently. However, it was noticeable that HBO did not agree, even in the first place, for allowing Netflix to stream the shows of their channel.
