Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. Wrongly Accuses Apple’s iPad for Outsourcing Jobs and Begins an Anti-Technology Rant

It is not the first time that governments officials have been mislead and end up giving unreasonable statements. The representative of the state of Illinois, Jesse Jackson Jr., lately gave a presentation in front of the whole Congress. Like plenty other short-sighted people, he also took the matter of the extent of unemployment in the country which has resulted by the outsourcing of jobs in to foreign countries. Despite making some reasonable and suitable points in his speech, he gave a whole bunch of unwise fight out against the iPad, along with off course Apple and advancement of technology.
Jesse Jackson, Jr.'s original congressional photoImage via WikipediaJackson being totally outdated made a huge allegation on iPad, as it claimed it to be “responsible for eliminating thousands of American jobs.” He argued that iPad is also a segment of Apple’s outsourcing of manufacturing duties, which are given to the Chinese company, Foxconn. He also pointed the fingers at the system which, according to him, was not suppose to allow such a move to take place at all. Whereas, Jackson did not finish blaming Apple only, he completely went anti-technology, and began a rant opposing the idea of advancements in technology resulting in jobs becoming obsolete.

He made his point, while speaking in Congress, saying that “Now Borders is closing stores because, why do you need to go to Borders anymore? Why do you need to go to Barnes & Noble? Buy an iPad and download your book. Download your newspaper. Download your magazine.” He wasn’t done here and went on condemning the plans of the Chicago State University, which intends to soon launch a “textbook-less campus” in upcoming few years. He then added that the end, questioning that “What becomes of publishing companies then? And publishing company jobs? What becomes of bookstores and librarians and all of the jobs associated with paper? Well, in the not-too-distant future, such jobs will not exist.”
Mr. Jackson are perhaps misinformed or maybe unaware that most of these publishing companies have been expanding just to meet the high demands of such ever more popular media portals that the tablet PC offer. And then again, if any company does not do that, than there is nothing to blame other the company’s own short-sightedness. Same will be the case for the job positions of Librarians. There is no doubt that the paper books will become less and less popular, but it is very certain that these rich-cultured libraries are not going anywhere. They might have to end few job designations and also simultaneously add few, but that’s really just the way of things. Now that the technology is becoming more and more advanced, the world will definitely have to adjust to it rather than countering the advancement.
