FBI suspects a Russian man, to be responsible for one-third of the spam you’ve gotten so far in life, though the mega spammer is yet planned to be arraigned in a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, court Monday. The court documents and FBI affidavits tell the story that, researchers began tracking down of the "Mega-D" spam automated botnet, recognized as a main source of selling counterfeit goods, and according to the claims all the intelligence behind it is of Oleg Nikolaenko
The documents presented at the court said, that "'Mega-D" was likely the largest botnet in the world, accounting for 32% of all spam," and further also that "Security researchers estimated that the botnet was capable of sending ten billion spam email messages a day.” These documents show the extent of the counterfeit ring and while the authorities' keep in effort to hunt down, the much renowned Nikolaenko.
In the documents, disclosed at the court, FBI agents and the Federal Trade Commission were monitoring him since at least 2007. Which involved almost couple of investigative trips to the U.S. last year and then finally lead to their chief when he arrived at Las Vegas, Nevada for an auto show. He was arrested immediately, on November 4. Christopher Van Wagner, Nikolaenko's lawyer, was not reachable immediately or was not ready to comment. But he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that so far, the charges against his client are only accusations. "We're prepared to present a rigorous defense," he said.
