Cisco Systems, announced this Wednesday, that it is expecting to enhance its cloud technology as it attempts to get hold of the renowned network management software vendor LineSider Technologies. It stated that Cisco is involved in the LineSider technology with the goal set to achieve a rapid network provisioning software. Whereas simultaneously its workforce of engineers, both will help in Cisco's attempt to master the market of cloud technology.
Even though the terms of the deal were not disclosed, Jesper Andersen, the senior vice president of Cisco's Network Management Technology Group, stated "With the acquisition of LineSider, Cisco will gain a key component to helping customers make [the] shift" to cloud computing. Whereas he firther elaborated that "LineSider's advanced network management software integrates both physical and virtual network services with a policy-based approach and makes networks more flexible and responsive to change."
Co-incidentally, 3Com, the competitors oaf Cisco themselves in around 2008, the made LineSider to offer a different version of OverDrive software that was to run 3Com's routers, allowing the customers to have their network more easily virtualized. LineSider has also partnered with VMware, EMC and Cisco now itself. Cisco is assumed to close the deal by April 2011. LineSider employees will join Cisco Network Management Technology Group.
