The head of YouTube in Google Inc., Salar Kamangar, wrote boastfully in his blog post that “You’re finding more and more of the content you love on YouTube, which is now available on 350 million devices.” He went on went on explaining the prospective of the company franchise saying that “We know this because you’re watching videos to the tune of 2 billion views a day. But you’re spending just 15 minutes a day on YouTube, and spending five hours a day watching TV. As the lines between online and offline continue to blur, we think that’s going to change.”
Despite being immensely popular in its video sharing market, YouTube’ had developed a reputation for mostly having amateur content, specially criticized were its cat-type videos, which had a way of annoying the company officials. Acting to strengthen reputation, YouTube has been conducting seminar and workshops as it precisely focuses on getting higher quality content on its website. It has been launching various plans to train the rising stars of the video sharing community and hopes to bring more premium and mature content such as feature-length films online. Word on the street is that YouTube will also be soon adding literal TV-like straming “channels” on its website, conquering the actual Television market and industry, giving YouTube another franchised feeling of a TV destination. However, having these rumors not confirmed yet, this release of full feature length movies on YouTube with rental service is one of its biggest move so far to bring more mature and professional content to its website.
