The competition between wireless carrier of the nation will be lessened, as the acquisition of AT& over T-Mobile continues towards its final stages, hence other competitor regional carriers are becoming more and more vigilant to improve the future moves. MetroPCS, which stands in the fifth position, considering the wireless provider of the U.S. has actually overpowered Verizon, which is a much larger company, when it came to the release of the first domestic 4G LTE network. Participating the battle to win over the market, U.S. Cellular, which lies in the sixth position, has prepared its plans and is almost prepared to release its own 4G LTE service national, before the end of this year.
The actual implementation for the service will be completed “in time for the holiday season,” as the company officials told the press, that they hope to at least provide the service to quarter of U.S. Cellular customers nationwide, within their set deadline. The service will be initially released in the “selected cities,” which are predictably the “leading markets” of the U.S. Cellular. These cities include; Milwaukee, Madison and Racine, Wis.; Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Iowa; Portland and Bangor, Maine; and Greenville, N.C.
Apart from the obvious reason of release the new technology to be the competition between the cellular companies, it will be very fair to judge that this also indicated that 4G-enabled devices are not far from today as well. Also keeping in mind that U.S. Cellular has plans to expand even by 2012, this makes our suspicion even stronger. As the C.E.O. and presideng of U.S. Cellular, Mary N. Dillon, gave a statement to the press claiming that “In addition to our line-up of cutting-edge devices, customers who switch to U.S. Cellular get unique benefits like faster phone upgrades without continuously signing contracts, and join the happiest customers in wireless.”
U.S. Cellular is undoubtedly considered as to be among the the top wireless carriers in the market, specially due its good repute in both, call quality and customer satisfaction, as also found out by the surveys conducted by Consumer Reports and J.D. Power & Associates. Just in the last quarter of previous year, U.S. Cellular launched its “The Belief Project,” which was a high scaled customer rewards programs that, which did not only offered revised and better rate plans but also customers, who had due roaming charges, to pay off the overage with accumulated points.
