White iPhone 4 was just recently launched after a long 10 months delay of its actual date. But it was later discovered after minute examination that White model of iPhone 4 was not only late, but it has also magically grown a little thicker in those 10 months. The actual distinction between the two colors of iPhone 4 is as small as 0.2 millimeters, speaking precisely. This will merely be considered negligible except when it does not fit on the wide range of iPhone cases designed specifically for the device, than it can cause problems.

He did not exactly put up the degree of difference between the thicknesses of two models, but he stated that the difference is very much visible with even the naked eye. This was a very sharp observation, as soon after him, another blog website, the TiPb blog, took the actual measurements. The mystery was then finally solved that the matter was resolved as they concluded that the White iPhone 4 is 0.2 millimeters thicker than the black model of iPhone 4.
Speaking technically this difference is very small if you consider the actual thickness of iPhone 4’s black model to be estimated around 9.3mm thick, and consequently the white model of iPhone 4 was measured to be around 9.5mm thick. After analyzing the difference in detail, it was studied that this additional thickness has not come from the outer steel frame of iPhone 4. Instead it was discovered that the white glass part, which lies on the face of white colored iPhone 4 is actually thicker that the black model, resulting in the thickness of the whole device. Surprisingly, Apple has taken no notice of this difference in the different colors of their same device, or even if they have, the difference of the thickness is not mentioned anywhere on the official website or anywhere else.
It was itself a mystery that why Apple even delayed the launch of its white iPhone 4 in the first place, but now discovering the difference in thicknesses, it is being suspected that the delay might have had something to do with the thickness issue. Just this week, both the C.E.O. of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs, and Phil Schiller, Senior V.P., were present in an interview and the declared that this 10 month delay in the white colored iPhone 4 had to be faced due some ‘issues with manufacturing’ of the particular model, so many analysts are now implying that this extra thickness might just be the definition of the ‘issues with manufacturing’ of the white iPhone 4.
Considering the market of the device, white iPhone 4, will work just fine regardless of the difference in thicknesses. The extra thickness will not cause any kind of problems for an average user; however situation will be affected if the user was to desire a case for its white iPhone 4. Still not all mobile covers will unfit the white iPhone 4, but still many are precisely designed to just grip the 9.3mm, which is only maintained in the black version of iPhone 4.
