Time Warner Temporarily Suspends MTV, FX from iPad App in Respect to of Their Complains

After receiving serious complains from their three biggest media companies; Viacom, Discovery Communications and News Corp., the cable operator Time Warner has temporarily terminated few channels from its iPad app. Time Warner has been streaming several of its cable programming to its paid subscribers on their iPad app as a convenience. But apparently, the media companies are not satisfied with seeing their content on iPad, to the same customers in addition to conventional TV’s, without profiting more money out of the cable operator.

Time Warner has implied straight forwardly, that according to them, they have “every right to carry the programming on our iPad app," as quoted in the report published by New York Times. Later today, the cable operator representative gave a statement: "But, for the time being, we have decided to focus our iPad efforts on those enlightened programmers who understand the benefit and importance of allowing our subscribers — and their viewers — to watch their programming on any screen in their homes. In the meantime, we will pursue all of our legal rights against the programmers who don’t share our vision.”

The operator has however also claimed that is going to restore these blocked channels, as they are only suspended temporarily, with new programming from different sources. This iPad app of Times Warner so far has been displaying 32 channels, which is a very small number compared to its entire cable lineup for conventional TV’s.
In a statement, the representative of Times Warner said that "the enthusiasm of our customers and the programming partners who have embraced the app, rather than those who are solely focused on finding additional ways to reach into wallets of their own viewers, has convinced us more than ever that we are on the right path."
