Sony Files a Lawsuit against an Alleged Jailbreaker of PlayStation 3

Sony has declared that the accused ‘PlayStation 3 jailbreaker,’ nicknamed George “GeoHot” Hotz has voluntarily fled down to South America just in case of keeping himself away from all the legal action. Although, Hotz has claimed that he is down there on a planned vacation for the spring break.
The alleged jail-braker
Just recently Sony has filed paper work in the California court, straight forwardly accusing Hotz for fleeing the country, merely for the sake of not forwarding the “components of his hard drives as requested” by the court. Sony goes on complaining that this act of Hotz clearly shows his efforts just “to dodge this Court’s authority,” which has given birth to “very serious questions” regarding Hotz position in the lawsuit.
On the other side, the Hotz has posted on his blog, in a post titled “Fearmongering” which says that he is just there for the spring break vacations and it was planned and paid for even before the patent.
In the lawsuit, Sony has a very transparent stance as it claims that Hotz breached their Digital Millennium Copyright Act by publishing very discrete instructions online. These instructions enable any user of PS3 to be able to install any third party unlicensed software, like Linux, on their Sony game console. This concept is known as ‘jailbreaiking,’ and it generally allows locked-down devices, such as PlayStation 3, to play pirated and unlicensed games.
Joseph Spero is the Magistrate of San Francisco, who has been hearing this lawsuit in California, not New Jersey, where Hotz resides.
