It has now been confirmed through the spokesman of Wyclef Jean himself, that the singer has now been freed after successful recovery treatment from a hospital, as he was admitted after receiving a gunshot which landed at his hand.
Joe Mignon, a very senior representative of Wyclef’s very active Yele Foundation in the area has also confirmed that the celebrity was shot at the time of 11PM on Saturday evening in the city of Delmas, near to Port-au-Prince. Though neither him, nor Wyclef’s own brother, Samuel, had any further details regarding the incident.
Keeping an eye the scenario in the streets of Haiti, the time of the shooting was not at all co-incidental, as the presidential elections in Haiti are just around the corner. It is also noticeable that Jean is very popular among the Haitian population due his relief efforts and is in full support of the candidate: Michel Martelly.
