Just as longer and longer queues had waited at Apple Stores before the launch of iPad 2 in 25 new countries, anxiously waiting for the clock to turn to 5pm. simultaneously, those customers who had ordered the device on the Apple’s website seeing the estimated shipment time to be 2-3 weeks, will now have to face delays.
Just few of those who had their online orders early are going to get their iPad 2 on time. Apple had displayed the estimated time period of 2-3 weeks for the shipment before the launch but only few hours after the launch, the new tablet computer immediately returned back to 3-4 weeks time period for the shipment. Many potential customers criticized the sudden change on the Apple’s website at their message boards, plenty of them even claimed to have received emails from Apple informing them to expect their iPad 2 devices till late April.
Apple carries a very bad reputation of co-oping with the high demand of their products. Even when iPad 2 was previously launched only in the U.S. on 11th of March, they had to face stock outs entire weekend.
CEO of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs himself admitted the company’s inefficiency and spoke earlier this week saying that “We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US and customers around the world have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
This second version of Apple’s iPad, is different from the previous version of the device as it is advertised to be much thinner, lighter and faster in performance due an advanced processor.
According to the latest analysis and surveys, Apple has ended up selling more than half million of its iPad 2’s in just the first weekend after the launch i.e. only in U.S. Whereas, further it is suggested that almost around 70 percent of these buyers are the ones who did not buy the first version of the device.
