The veteran baker of the reality TV show "Cake Boss" just passed away recently in New Jersey. Sal Picinich was only 63-year-old. According to his wife, Lucille, the cause of the death was his growing cancer, she told The Record newspaper.
Picinich had worked at the same job for about almost 45 years. The TV series was being recorded at his workplace Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken. According to the bakery's publicist, Buddy "The Cake Boss" Valastro looked up to Picinich as a "second father." Picinich even had the honor of even working for late father of Valastro father, Buddy Valastro Sr.
Picinich had suspended his appearance in the show, as his health issues raised for the first time sometime in late 2009. Although he then made a quick return just this last summer only for accepting his ‘employee of the century award’ which was awarded to the most the bakery's most prestigious employee on their 100th anniversary.
