Seattle Police Uses Twitter to Track the Reported Stolen Cars

The Wednesday, The Seattle police department made an announcement stating that it will start tweeting information on stolen vehicles in an attempt to control the, more increasing than ever, auto theft rates.
Initially, they say, that they intend to publish the color, year, make, model, body style and license plate numbers in the tweet. They have plans to give the Twitter account username as "Get your car back." According to Seattle police, the predictably the average number of cars being stolen in the city premise has noticeably mounted from 8.46 cars everyday last year to 9.9 cars everyday this year, and astonishingly almost around 3,000 cars were stolen alone in the last month, October.

Plan is for the employees at the 911 emergency call center in Seattle will immediately tweet a car's information right after it is reported stolen. And the department expects the Twitter followers, who might actually find the stolen car somewhere, to call police rather than contacting any occupants or replying via Twitter.
