New Wordpress App Exclusively For Nokia!

Now finally after Android and Blackberry Wordpress announces app exclusively made, this time, for Nokia phone users. As we already know, the popular and recently growing blogging platform has been putting time and energy into making mobile applications and making the experience of blogging from mobile more technical. Its safe to say that, Wordpress has be overall successful in making it easier for smartphone users to blog remotely. This recent announcement of the new launch will not only be a step ahead, but will allow Wordpress to gain more potential users.

It says officially in their blog post, “We are very excited to share with all of you that in the coming weeks we’ll be opening up a beta test for the official Open Source WordPress for Nokia app. For developers who are interested in getting involved, we just opened-up a dev blog with details, links to the source code and trac tickets, and an early alpha build. We’ll be leveraging the Qt framework which means will be able to support both the S60 and Maemo platforms.”

Even though, it was unanticipated that WordPress would continue to support S60, considering that even Nokia has dropped Symbian, the support for Maemo seems reasonable. In fact, it is now widely believed that Maemo could be the next big competitor to other smartphone platforms such as Android, iPhone and Blackberry.

Wordpress version 2.7 is currently supported in the new application currently, but we can expect to see it updated with the newest version and more bells and whistles in the near future. Quite predictably Wordpress this new Nokia app is offered free of charge, just as all the other mobile applications for iPhone, Blackbery and Android. However, this app is not yet compatible with Symbian3 devices like the N8, C6, C7, but can be used on the N97 Mini and X6.
