3G Services Provide Internet To Mountaineers On The Peak Of Everest!

3G services installed at a base station at 5,200 meters (17,000 feet) height that will reach the 8,848-meter peak of Mount Everest, this Friday. The base station smoothly allows surfing the Web, tweeting and posting Facebook updates without worrying that the signals would fade away any moment. The new high-speed service was announced, this Friday, by Ncell. Ncell is a subsidiary of Swedish telecom company TeliaSonera.
“You know, I think it’s kind of good and kind of bad, but to me it’s kind of inevitable,” says the famous climber Ed Viesturs, recognized as U.S.’s high-altitude mountaineer. Viesturs has a record of climbing 14 of the world’s highest peaks till now. He added, “I’m kind of old school. But you can imagine the upcoming generations saying, ‘No, bring it on. The more the better!’”
This new technology would facilitate the mountaineers to access wireless internet and make video calls from the top of the world’s tallest mountain at any time. According to The Bulletin, This fascinating technology is permanent this time around. It is also faster!
