Napa Valley Mixes the Wine Tasting and Internet to Gain More in Charity


Internet is being mixed together at this week’s event a premier Napa Valley wine country charity auction, as it will give the auction a worldwide audience. All the oenophiles from all over the world will able to participate in the auction and bid in real-time against its rivals at the Auction Napa Valley, the high-scale website is put online at the address: www.napavintners.com/anv.
"We like to say you can have a virtual Napa Valley experience from wherever you are in the world -- you could bid in your pajamas if you want to," stated the owner of Schweiger Vineyards, Andy Schweiger, who is also leading the auction's online department. He stated that "It's a never-before-seen, really amazing global outreach that brings together the best of Napa Valley, all for great causes that support healthcare, youth services and affordable housing non-profit programs."
Online bidders will be able to compete in real-time bidding with rivals, even the ones physically present at the event venue. While several of the lucky bidders will also be awarded the opportunity to visit the auction physically and take part in auction festivities, which start on 3rd June, 2011, at the prestigious Meadowood Napa Valley resort and will finally come to end after the weekend is over. The bidders participating in the Napa Valley venue will also be making use of advanced technology as for-the-first-time-ever the bidders will use their smartphones to view the information just by taking a picture of "QR codes," which will automatically fetch data from the online hosted data. Bidding will begin on the website from 29th May and carry on throughout the event until the 5th June.
The Director of Napa Valley Vintners Association, Linda Reiff, said "I don't know of any charity wine auction that engages the wine-loving community so broadly.” She further added that "The discussion on social media has been fantastic and the excitement is gaining momentum every day."
This charity event has a long and rich history, as this year will be the 31st annual event. It has overall has raised a total of $97 million, as informed by Reiff. She announced at the time of launching the online website for bidding that "This is our chance to take this venerable charity auction to the next level.”
