YouTube Founders Acquire the Delicious Website from Yahoo and Promise a Complete Makeover

After the initial announcement, when Yahoo first declared the news that it is seriously considering to restrict its different Web properties, many shocked by this news assumed automatically that its trendy bookmarking site Delicious is going to be among the first ones to be sacrificed. Despite the

decision of Yahoo, that it will consider selling the famous web-service rather than simply suspending it, this idea was another trouble maker as there were very few buyers for the website which caused even more concerns. It was also indentified by a former Delicious employee, that the site is developed in such a way that it will remain integrated with Yahoo’s platform only, which might’ve been the main cause for the potential buyers to back out.

But finally the deal of Delicious has been made and the website is already sold, putting an end to the hunt. It was none other than the founders of YouTube and early PayPal staffers, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who bought the web site on an undisclosed price. The deal has been finalized as the transition will be completely finished by the end of July. AVOS is the name of company owned by both Hurley and Chen which is briefly portrayed as just another “new Internet company,” by both of its owners. It is being referred to, by many analysts along with the new owners that Delicious, has definitely ended up in the right hands.
It was mentioned in a Wall Street Journal post regarding the deal that “As creators of the largest online video platform, they have firsthand experience enabling mission so users to share their experiences with the world. They are committed to running and improving Delicious going forward.” Whereas the blog post of Delicious before the deal, had mentioned that “We wanted to find a home for the product where it can receive more love and attention.”
AVOS has stated that it has all the intentions to keep Delicious still a  mainstream bookmarking site, and it will be easier to get started with the new website once the use has agreed to the new owners’ terms of service. Later only the e-mail confirms method will be adopted to reconfirm the associated e-mail address and password, and the user will have already been moved on to the new website. AVOS promises that this new site will be much better, as they will work on improving and the direction of making it “even easier and more fun to save, share, and discover the web’s ‘tastiest’ content.” Moreover, it was also announced that the first major update from AVOS will be a quick Firefox 4 plug-in for Delicious, coming very soon.
