UAE and BlackBerry Officials Agree over the usage BES, disallowing the services for individuals and smaller businesses

According to a local newspaper of UAE, the issue of Saturday alleged that the Government has decided to discontinue the access of the best private data transmission services of BlackBerry. This service will be suspended for all the individuals and small businesses in the country, but not the larger business, as agreed after the disagreement over the issue for months. It has been decided that only the business which have above or equal to 20 subscriptions will be permitted to access this extremely top level security accounts on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) the subscribers to use transmission of e-mails and any other kind of extremely highly secure corporate email as described by The National newspaper. This transmission was not even able to get intercepted by the government regulatory authorities, and this agreement has been made after almost a time of six months since the UAE official threatened to completely hang up the services of BlackBerry in the country. The dispute raised in the argument was over the direct access of these high level security protocols of Blackberry, as the government was concerned due the unrest in Arab states being solely planned over the social media lately. Only the two Gulf countries, the UAE and Qatar, are yet safe from being the victims of such turmoil’s as entire gulf suffers.
The National newspaper, narrated the ruling allowed by the UAE's telecoms controllers, stating still the smaller businesses, which have less than 20 subscriptions, will be able to access the BlackBerry Internet Service. However, it will be carefully watched that they are not given the high level security protocols and the data is not kept on private servers, along with the facility of encrypted messaging.
The ‘Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’ which has agreed to this decision on behalf of the government has stated that this ruling will be applied and be effective immediately on the 1st of May, 2011.
The real claim of the UAE authorities case’ last year, said that they were asking for the same access which has been allowed to the United States, Russia and other countries of the world as well. Hence, it kept threatening for the suspension of the BlackBerry Messenger, email and web browser services. The authorities were blackmailing RIM into locating its servers which kept the encrypted transmission, being kept somewhere in the country, so the government shall have access and monitor these email and relevant data.
The UAE, considering the fate of other Gulf States, was not compromising and showed zero tolerance over the dispute, as it considered the incapability of having access to such data legally to be a national security threat. The government has provided no additional details regarding the deal with RIM other than stating that an agreement has been reached and from now onwards the BlackBerry services will be obeying the UAE telecoms regulations.
