Quora Temporarily Supports an Unofficial iPhone App as Users Waits an Official Version

Given a rival like none other than Facebook, with its Questions feature, Quora, the exclusive social networking website for question-and-answer, has started to make desperate decisions. Quora has declared its support for a recently launched unofficial iPhone app. This app named Social Questions, gives the ability for every user to browse Quora through a mobile displaying their profile page, home page, inbox and notifications.

According to the Developer of this app, Thomas Ricouard, he was allowed by the company to quickly release the app, though it doesn’t answers the concern that why did the company take so long for marking its own mobile app sooner. Quora also has hired an iOS developer since January, which indicates that an official iPhone and iPad apps can be expected soon, but how soon can it be. Quora has been founded since 2009 and it is anticipated to have a very mobile app, when it is made.

Maybe this sudden impulsive decision of Quora is driven by the new Questions feature of Facebook, allowing its large number of users to be able to poll their friends with any kind of questions. This service is quite the ditto of Quora, however, it is believed that Quora still has the upper edge since it draws a larger audience for the answers as compared to any ordinary users friends on Facebook. Moreover, Facebook Questions still also stays behind in the ability of ranking the answers in an order as done by Quora.
Quora has previously given importance to building a mobile site rather than an app, but now the company has perhaps valued the importance of having an official iPhone or iPad app. Considering that now the mainstream companies such as Facebook has come after hunting the same audience as Quora, that puts it in a dangerous position.
