The first time when LinkedIn introduced its own original developer platform, back in 2009, it was ready for all the developers with tools like setting of APIs for the third-party applications intergradations. However, the platform still had lacked few very common tools; one such tool was OAuth 2.0 and secondly there was no support even for advanced Javascript API. Company has reportedly have been testing for advanced Javascript API in the previous few months.

The latest version of the LinkedIn Developer Platform now allows other websites to make the APIs accessible to any user who wants to acquire them them. LinkedIn has also now opened its platform finally for any kind of plug-ins, one of the few default plug-ins include the much common "Sign in with LinkedIn" button along with the share buttons of LinkedIn. These share buttons were already visible on posts on the social networking newsmaker website Mashable's stories even before the release. This plug-ins will be available for both the profiles of member and companies as well. Moreover, recommend button has also been introduced which allows the users to recommend your products through the network.
Lastly the developer platform has been revamped with discrete level improvements under the hood as well. The new Javascript framework has been believed to have improved and it reportedly now "loads significantly faster." Support for SSL and improved support for OAuth still remain the highlight of the new as these together with plug-ins are designed to make a much more simplified and smooth for the users of the network.
