In a collaboration of Flipboard, earliest social magazine exclusively for Apple’s iPad, and Oprah Winfrey, a new official section of the electronic magazine was announced last week, titled “Oprah.” This section of the e-magazine is exclusively identified to be only representing the content related to all about Oprah and her team. This includes the information on Oprah herself, Oprah.com, The Oprah Winfrey Show, OWN, and O, The Oprah Magazine as well.
This is the biggest deal that Flipboard has been able to close so far. This media partnership has got a great response from all the fans of either side, on Facebook and Twitter social media statuses. The Senior Vice President of digital OWN, Glenn Kaino, even looked forward to this collaboration and said that “This is a great way for Oprah’s audience all over the world to have access to and share content from Oprah’s various platforms.”
Even Flipboard itself have huge expectations from this partnership, as their primary goal is to revolutionize the way people discover, view and also share information on their relevant social networks, has got a good boast by this. Even, Flipboard, the app itself makes an amalgam of all kinds of social media information and produces their own, personalized and easy-to-navigate arrangement of the same information. Moreover, this information is made glamorous by shaping it into headlines and pictures like the print magazines.
This partnership is being counted on, to be the next step of Flipboard. Despite the previous deals with other renowned publishers beforehand, this matchless partnership with Oprah might just reform the demographic chart of app’s dynamic subscriber. Earlier the Flipboard only focused much on the tech feed, but now after time and exposure, it has been able to attract a very larger audience which makes it a mainstream magazine.
It was confirmed by the co-founder and current C.E.O. of Flipboard, Mike McCue, that the company has pleasantly accepted the $50 million of funds out of its total approx. valuation of $200 million. This is the second installment of this bulky investment as the company has also previously agreed to $10.5 million, which came from the New York-based Insight Venture Partners.
According to the users of both Facebook and Twitter, this new idea of “Oprah Flipboard experience” will be a great success and will definitely take the app, Flipboard, a step forward. To make it more user-friendly, the option of not having the ‘Oprah’ branded section of the app update will also come along with the update for any users which is not interested.
