Nokia Will Keep Selling Symbian Simultaneously As They Make the Transition towards Windows

Nokia (NOK1V.HE) has announced that it will soon be shifting slowly from selling smart phones having the Symbian software to the smart phones with Microsoft's (MSFT.O) Windows. It has claimed that the symbian phones will still be sold long after even they put Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) go on sale.
It has previously been informed that Symbian platform will be swapped with the new Microsoft's Windows Phone in the next couple years by the mobile phone giant, Nokia. These plans were announced in February, as Nokia claimed that Sybmian phones are losing their market share. Purnima Kochikar, developer relations at Nokia, wrote in an open letter addressed to all developers that "We will be selling (Symbian) devices long after Windows Phone devices from Nokia have already started to appear.”

Nokia is intending to have introduced the initial few models having the Windows Phone platform in 2012. Nokia has not identified a specific time period for how long will it simultaneously sell Symbian smart phones too. According to an assessment by Ovum, which is a research firm, they predicted that Nokia will keep selling Symbian phones at least until 2016.
Kochikar continued saying that next Symbian models will now focus on having faster processors than ever before in the Symbian product line. Kochikar claimed in the letter that "Over the past weeks we have been evaluating our Symbian roadmap and now feel confident we will have a strong portfolio of new products during our transition period -- i.e. 2011 and 2012.”
Recent best sellers of Nokia are the models, the N8 and the E7, which are using 680 MHz (megahertz) processors, though the rival companies best sellers have already employed 1 GHz (gigahertz) and faster processors in their devices.
