#EntertainmentNews: Mel Gibson Gives Himself up to the Authorities for the Battery Charge

Actor Mel Gibson

California Authorities have confirmed that Mel Gibson was arrested and then later quickly released too, due to a misdemeanor battery charge as part a previous criminal case which involved his ex-girlfriend. Upon inquiry, the jail records showed that the actor-cum-director himself reported at the El Segundo Police Department on this Wednesday evening.
All the procedures of an arrest took place at the police station as the record of his arrest was made as his fingerprints along with a proper mug shot were taken. The requirement of a formal plea deal which actually had resulted for his not only three years’ probation but also a yearlong domestic violence counseling was fulfilled.

The much respected Oscar winning director actually had been accused of striking his girlfriend of the time, Oksana Grigorieva during an alleged fight among the couple which took place sometime in January 2010. Though later there was no contest plea and this Friday did not even include any admission of guilt at the director’s part. Gibson himself chose to give himself up to the authorities at the same night when his film "The Beaver" was being premiered at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas.
