US Authorities Now Begin a Mass Shut Down Of Websites Involved In Copyright Infringement

Recently US authorities have been taking action against many websites offering counterfeit goods and pirated music, as five months ago a crackdown began on sites offering movie downloads. Allegedly, a website which shares information about popular BitTorrent file-sharing protocol called Torrent Freak, published list of the websites where are suppose to be targeted, of more than 70 sites.
A visitor to any such site which has been shut down by the authorities, display the message: "This site has been seized by ICE -- Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant issued by a United States District Court." It further elaborates that copyright infringement is a proper federal crime punishable by a penalty of five years imprisonment and/or a 250,000-dollar fine, whereas even trafficking in counterfeit goods may even lead upto 10-years sentence of imprisonment with a two million dollars fine.
The sites which are besieged at the moment are like namely, burberryoutletshop.com, cheapscarfshop.com, dvdcollectionsale.com, handbagcom.com, mydreamwatches.com, rapgodfathers.com, sunglasses-mall.com, torrent-finder.com and usaoutlets.net. This move has come, very recently, after around five months after US authorities launched a crackdown on websites offering pirated copies of movies.
Domain names of nine websites out of the total were seized earlier, in June, along with their bank, Paypal and advertising accounts as part of what US officials dubbed "Operation in Our Sites." The authorities now claim, that its time that in "Operation In Our Sites" we start targeting not only the websites displaying only the pirated movies but also, this time, the websites also distributing other items over the Internet such as music, counterfeit pharmaceuticals, software, electronics and games.
